Xinhua News Agency, Xi’an, June 15 (Reporter Yao Youming) on the 15th, the annual meeting of the central and western China Youth Basketball Championship (CCWBA) was held in Tongchuan city, Shaanxi province. At the meeting, CCWBA Council signed a strategic cooperation agreement on youth training with Qingdao Guoxin HADAY Basketball Club of China men’s basketball professional league (CBA): within three years, the Council will send at least one player to Qingdao team every year.

CCWBA was founded in 2007. The competition has cultivated national players such as Shu long and Zhao Rui. There are not a few players who participated in CCWBA competition in their youth, CUBA and even CBA league after entering university. Only 8 teams participated in the first CCWBA competition, but now CCWBA Council has more than 200 council members in 24 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities across the country. At the meeting held on that day, more than 70 representatives from 24 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities across the country attended.

In addition to the annual CCWBA council sending a youth team member to Qingdao men’s basketball, the two sides also stipulated in the agreement that the two sides would organize no less than one youth event every year within three years, and the venue of the competition would be located in Qingdao. In addition, CCWBA Council promised not to transfer its players to other CBA and National Men’s Basketball League (NBL) professional clubs before Qingdao completed the selection of reserve talents men’s basketball.

“I am very glad to see the strategic cooperation between CCWBA Council and Qingdao team, which is the result of our council’s efforts over the years.” Wang Libin, chairman of CCWBA Council and chairman of Shaanxi Basketball Association, said, “we will take this opportunity to further improve the quality of the competition, improve the selection network of outstanding athletes, and dredge the transmission channels, let more outstanding basketball players go out from CCWBA platform, go to colleges and universities and join professional teams to realize their basketball dreams and add luster to the development of Chinese basketball.”
