Yesterday, the 2023 international basketball Expo press conference was held in Beijing. After the meeting, Yao Ming, chairman of China Basketball Association, accepted an exclusive interview with our reporter.
Jinjiang economic news: Why did China Basketball Association hold the first international basketball fair in Jinjiang? What is the reason for this?
Yao Ming: Jinjiang has made great contributions to the development of Chinese sports in the past 20 years or even longer. Sports-related industries have a very large foundation in Jinjiang. If the industry accumulates to a certain extent, there must be a strong sports culture. I think activities like basketball Fair need to find a good “soil” for the first “planting”, so I believe this is a very good opportunity.
Jinjiang economic news: for the masses and basketball enthusiasts, what do you think will be available for the first basketball Expo?
Yao Ming: I think going to the basketball fair can not only enjoy vision and hearing, but also experience many new technologies. For example, we are about to launch the international basketball fair in early November, and then you can feel it. This is just like the past, you can only buy one ticket to watch the basketball game, but later with radio and television, everyone feels different when watching the game. Later, with more communication channels carried by science and technology, when these technologies accumulate to a certain extent, Sports forms will become very different. We don’t know what it will be like in 20 years, maybe we can see something new and unthought at the scene then.
Jinjiang economic news: What do you want to show you most in the first basketball fair? What role will the basketball fair play in promoting the domestic and international basketball industry chain?
Yao Ming: The basketball club first has an experience, which needs tools to carry. Tools include various equipment and facilities, new technological products, etc., which are hardware-related. From the aspect of software, for example, there will be more competition products, which is a kind of mutual collision. For the basketball industry chain, “link, collision, Display”, I think this is the biggest role of the basketball fair.
Jinjiang economic news: the basketball fair will be held in November. Will you go to Jinjiang again? What do you want to say to Jinjiang people and fans who are going to Jinjiang?
Yao Ming: I’ll be there then. I hope more people can visit the basketball fair in Jinjiang to experience the charm of basketball. At the same time, I also expect them to bring us more imagination.
