Live Bar, May 11-NBA officials announced today that Mike shashevsky (coach Old K), a member of Naismith Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, was appointed as a special adviser on NBA basketball operations.
Shashevsky is the current record holder of the total number of wins in the NCAA first-class men’s basketball league. During his teaching as the head coach of the US men’s basketball, he led the team to win the World Championship six times in total.
Official documents show that the role of this special adviser on operations is to provide advice to league, NBA team executives and other leaders on a series of issues related to the competition.
Byron, president of NBA operations, said: “We are honored that Coach K can join our big family and share his rich experience and expertise with the league and us.”
Lao K said: “This is a huge opportunity to deepen my connection with NBA and participate in the dialogue on further strengthening the league and the competition. Even after I retired, my enthusiasm for this sport has never been so high. This role will enable me to continue my basketball career at the highest level.”
During Duke’s tenure, Lao K won five national championships and set a record of games played (13 times) for the NCAA top four coach.
Shashevsky served as the head coach of the senior national team of American basketball in the 2005-16 season and emerged in international competitions. He led the project to set a record of 8 wins and 1 loss, including 24 wins and 0 losses in the Olympic Games.
Led by shashevsky, the US team won three gold medals in the Olympic Games (2008, 2012 and 2016) and two gold medals in the Basketball World Cup of the International Basketball Federation (2010 and 2014), and won a gold medal in the America Cup of the International Basketball Association (2007). Shashevsky is the only basketball coach who leads the country to win the Olympic championship three times in a row. Among other honors, shashevsky was selected as the Naismith Memorial Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2001 and the University Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006.
Shashevsky graduated from West Point Military Academy and served as a clerk in the basketball team for three years. Before he entered the University coach, he served as an Army soldier and obtained the rank of captain. In recognition of his contribution, shashevsky was awarded the Outstanding giladute Award by the American military academy in 2005, and the George-katelite-Marshall Medal by the American Army Association in 2014.
